RuPaul's Drag Race Season Nine contender and Chicago native Shea Couleè is equal parts Bougie and Banji. When Couleè isn't slaying the stage or melting cameras with her now famous paint, she goes by Jaren Merrell. Merrell attended Columbia College in Chicago to study costume design, drawing inspiration from theatrical productions like Aida and super models of the 90's like Naomi Campbell. With support from his best friend and close collaborator Tiger Lily, he was convinced to start drag.

Five years into the game, Couleé expresses her love for the arts through fashion and film making. In 2016 she released her debut film Lipstick City, which she was the writer, co-producer, director and star of. Shortly after the film's release Couleé was chosen to compete by RuPaul to compete for the title of Americas Next Drag SuperStar!
